Ni
Introverted Intuition
Introverted Intuition (Ni) is a perceiving function that operates in the background, constantly synthesizing information to find underlying patterns. It is often described as a "visionary" function because it looks past the details of the present to predict how things will play out in the future. Ni users often have "aha!" moments where the answer just comes to them, seemingly out of nowhere.
At Best (Healthy)
Able to foresee consequences and guide others towards a meaningful future. They are often calm, profound, and deeply insightful.
Under Stress (Unhealthy)
Can become overly paranoid, detached from reality, or stubborn about their specific vision regardless of contradictory facts.
The opposite pole
Ni ↔ SeExtroverted SensingNi and Se are two sides of the same perceiving axis. Ni looks inward, asks what lies behind events and where they lead, and narrows every possibility down to one direction. Se is fully open to the outside: it takes in the present as it is, in full sensory detail, and acts on it at once. That is why types who lead with Ni usually have Se as their inferior function - and the other way round.
How to develop Ni
Before an important decision, write one line on how it will play out, then revisit the prediction a month later to see how close it was.
Set aside ten minutes a day with no input at all - no phone, music or conversation - and let ideas connect on their own, for example on a walk.
When something happens for the third time, stop and ask what the common thread is, then state the pattern in one sentence.
Keep a journal of dreams or recurring images, and notice which symbols keep coming back in certain periods.
