Fe

Extroverted Feeling

Extroverted Feeling (Fe) is about social harmony and connection. Fe users are naturally attuned to the emotions of others and the "vibe" of the room. They make decisions based on what is best for the group, often prioritizing social contracts and manners over their own private feelings.

At Best (Healthy)

Warm, inviting, and community-builders. They make everyone feel included and understood. Great counselors and hosts.

Under Stress (Unhealthy)

Can be manipulative, fake, or lose their own identity in the group. They may smother others to force harmony.

Fe and Ti share the judging axis. Fe turns outward: it reads the room, senses what others need and works to keep everyone included. Ti turns inward: it breaks the problem into parts and checks what is logically sound, regardless of how it will land. Fe connects people; Ti makes sure what connects them holds up. Fe-dominant types tend to doubt themselves when thinking alone, and Ti-dominant types tend to freeze in emotional situations.

How to develop Fe

1

In a meeting or over dinner, notice who has not spoken yet and invite them in with a simple question.

2

Before sending an important message, reread it from the point of view of the person receiving it.

3

Express appreciation out loud and specifically - not "well done" but exactly what made the difference.

4

Keep up small social rituals: remember birthdays, send a thank-you, check on someone after a hard day.

Dominant Function

The primary lens through which they see the world.

ENFJs and ESFJs are the ultimate caregivers. Their first instinct is always to check on the people around them.

Auxiliary Function

Supports the dominant function and provides balance.

INFJs and ISFJs use Fe to protect harmony. They are often the listeners and peacemakers who ensure everyone is getting along.

Tertiary Function

Playful, but can turn childish or defensive under stress.

ESTPs and ENTPs can be surprisingly charming and charismatic. They use Fe to win people over, though they may lack deep empathy.

Inferior Function

The source of many struggles, and of great growth.

INTPs and ISTPs crave connection but feel awkward socially. They fear rejection deeply. Under stress, they may have emotional explosions.
