About Leo
Leo is the sign of heart and presence. When Leo walk into a room the mood shifts: they tell the funniest story, buy the round and make sure everyone's having fun. The Sun, their ruler, gives them warmth, confidence and a genuine need to create and express themselves - on stage, at work, even in how they dress. They're very generous and loyal to the end to their people, and expect the same loyalty back. Beneath the confidence lies great sensitivity to appreciation: a sincere compliment opens them up, and being ignored hurts more than any criticism.
Love & Relationships
Leo love big and in public. They court with style - flowers, a lavish dinner, compliments in front of friends - and expect the same attention in return. In a relationship they're loyal, generous and protective, and feel real pride in their partner. They need to feel chosen and appreciated, and silence or indifference hurts them more than an argument. The difficulty is that pride makes apologising hard for them, so small fights can drag on longer than they should.
Friendship
Leo are the party hosts, the ones who organise the birthday dinner and raise the toast. They're very generous friends: they treat, cheer loudly and turn up in the front row at a friend's show. They're also protective - anyone who hurts someone in their circle will find out fast. What hurts them is lack of recognition: when their effort goes unthanked, they feel used.
Work & Money
At work, Leo need a stage, and not necessarily a literal one: they want their work to be seen and linked to their name. They're natural leaders who motivate and reassure a team, and suit fields like management, teaching, performing arts, design, PR and entrepreneurship. Public criticism wounds them deeply, while simple recognition draws out exceptional work. With money they're generous and enjoy quality and luxury, so it pays to set a budget for treats in advance and stick to it.

Key Traits
What drives Leo
Element
FireLeo's fire is a bonfire: steady, warm and central, something people gather around. Unlike Aries' spark or Sagittarius' roaming flame, Leo's fire stays lit, so their enthusiasm holds over time. It also needs tending: appreciation, creativity and joy.
Modality
FixedAs the fixed sign in midsummer, Leo holds the season at its peak. This is the quality of loyalty and persistence: Leo don't abandon a project, a friend or a principle. That same fixity turns into stubbornness when pride is involved, and then changing their mind in public is very hard.
Ruling Planet
SunThe Sun, Leo's ruler, is the centre of the solar system, and that's how Leo experience themselves: as a centre that radiates warmth. The Sun gives them confidence, creativity and a need for self-expression, but also a dependence on outside light - when no one sees them, they start to doubt themselves.
The Three Decans
Each sign splits into three 10-degree decans, each with a sub-ruler that tints Leo in its own shade. The exact degree of your Sun appears in the birth chart.
Classic Leo: charismatic, proud and in need of recognition. There's great generosity and leadership here, alongside high sensitivity to wounded pride.
Jupiter adds optimism, humour and a love of learning and travel. People in this decan lead through inspiration and ideas, and sometimes overdo promises and spending.
Mars makes Leo more energetic, competitive and direct. There's physical courage here and a tendency to act fast, along with a hotter temper than in the other decans.
Moon in Leo
A Moon in Leo needs to feel seen and loved in order to feel calm. Feelings here are warm, dramatic and generous, with a tendency to express them big - through gifts, laughter or tears. When the need for recognition goes unmet, wounded pride can appear disguised as indifference.
Leo Rising
Leo rising makes an entrance: upright posture, striking hair and a presence that's hard to ignore. People with Leo rising come across as confident and warm, even on days they don't feel that way inside. They care about appearance and enjoy dressing in a way that says something.

Shadow Side
Leo's shadow is the need for applause. When it takes over, every conversation circles back to them, criticism is felt as an insult, and they may invest more in image than substance. Underneath there's often a deep fear that they aren't enough as they are, without the performance, so showing weakness is hard.
Growth Path
Leo grows through Aquarius, its opposite: using their light to illuminate others, and finding worth even without an audience. A good practice is doing one good deed a week that nobody knows about, and asking one more question in every conversation than the stories they told about themselves.

Compatibility
Best Match
Aries and Leo share fire, courage and a love of adventure. Aries brings new beginnings and Leo gives them warmth and staying power, as long as neither tries to win every argument.
Sagittarius makes Leo laugh and widens their world, and Leo gives Sagittarius a warm home to return to. Both are generous, optimistic and can't stand pettiness.
Challenging Match
Two fixed signs that hate giving in. Leo wants a stage and a social life, Taurus wants quiet and a night at home. If they find a compromise, they share a deep love of loyalty and beautiful things.
Two powerful, proud signs: Leo lives in the light, Scorpio in the shadows. Leo may feel Scorpio hides things, and Scorpio that Leo is superficial. With trust, it's one of the most loyal and passionate pairings there is.
Sun-sign compatibility is only a starting point - both people's Moon, Venus and Rising change the picture.
